Gabrielle Di Sapia Natarelli is a PhD student in Health Systems Research (Health Services Outcomes and Evaluation) at the University of Toronto’s Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME). Gabrielle’s doctoral work focuses on the ethical integration of artificial intelligence in healthcare, with particular emphasis on clinical decision-making in breast cancer oncology. Her research examines practice variation and evidence-to-practice gaps, exploring how algorithmic tools can support more standardized, equitable, and ethically grounded treatment planning while aligning innovation with patient outcomes and health system governance.
Gabrielle has an interdisciplinary background spanning bioethics, public health biology, and human biology. She holds a Master of Science in Bioethics from Columbia University and a Master of Arts in Public Health Biology from Johns Hopkins University, where her training has combined ethical analysis with mechanistic and translational health science.
Alongside her doctoral work, she serves as a Graduate Research Assistant at IHPME, contributing to interdisciplinary projects using mixed methods to advance health systems research and AI applications in care delivery. Previously, Gabrielle worked as a Bioethics Consultant and Project Manager in research ethics, facilitating ethical review processes, advising on AI-enabled clinical platforms, and supporting governance frameworks that address complex regulatory and ethical challenges in health research.
