Delenn is an MPH candidate in the Department of Social and Behavioural Health Sciences at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health. She has a cross-disciplinary academic background that has spanned basic research projects in neuroimmunology and wildlife health to social research regarding 2SLGBTQIA+ mental and sexual health. Presently she is a research assistant on the Geography of Sex Project, which investigates how social and structural determinants influence sexual healthcare access among gay and bisexual men in the Toronto’s suburban communities.
Delenn’s foray in climate and health began while training as a technician in a veterinary public health laboratory, where she was introduced to the principals of One Health through her work on a research project related to the genetics of chronic wasting disease. To reconcile her knowledge in environmental and mental health, she has since shifted her focus towards understanding how youth think about their futures in the face of climate change, and how that thinking influences mental health and flourishing.
