Awards
Awards for which a nomination is required:
- Student Leadership & Innovation: Open to all UofT students and trainees (can be individual or group).
- Early Career Academic Excellence (in research or teaching): Open to UofT post-doctoral fellows, faculty within the first five years of their appointment, and other advanced post-graduate trainees**.
- Excellence in Policy & Practice Change (best in TAHSN): Open to healthcare organizations within the Toronto Academic Health Science Network (TAHSN)* and their affiliates (Family Health Teams, Ontario Health Teams, and related public health & care partners**).
*TAHSN organizations are welcome to submit initiatives also reported in the 2025 TAHSN Sustainability Balanced Scorecard.

Awards associated with the Collaborative Centre Symposium (no nomination required):
- Outstanding Student Poster: Open to all UofT students and trainees who are accepted to present posters at the Collaborative Centre’s 2025 Annual Symposium. All student posters will automatically be considered for this award and do not need to complete the nomination process detailed below for the other awards.
The recipient of each award will receive
- A certificate and recognition on the Collaborative Centre website
- An invitation to list their work in our initiatives directory and/or present in the Climate & Health Seminar Series, as appropriate
- Membership in the Collaborative Centre – if not already held
- For student awards: An honorarium of $500
Award Criteria
The nominated individual/group demonstrates:
- Work relevant to award category and to climate change and health, sustainability, and/or planetary health
- Leadership, innovation, and/or originality
- Quality/excellence
- Potential or demonstrated impact
Process
- Call for awards nominations announced June 2025
- Nominations submitted by September 22nd, 2025
- Committee to review award nominations early October 2025
- Awards announced at 2025 Annual Symposium: October 30th, 2025
Nomination Requirements
Nominations must include:
- Contact information for individual/teams being nominated.
- Individuals can nominate others or apply on their own behalf.
- Nominations for students must include the student number.
- Letter of nomination on appropriate letterhead, which indicates the nominee(s), nominator(s), motivation for nomination, including how the nominee(s) meet award criteria.
- CVs are required for the following awards:
- Early Career Academic Excellence
- Student Leadership & Innovation (at least one from lead nominee)
- Additional letters of support from supervisors, colleagues and the public may be included (Max 3), but are not required.
Review Committee
- The awards review committee will be drawn from Collaborative Centre members and chaired by the Collaborative Centre Director.
- N.B. Should the review committee decide in any given year that none of the nominees sufficiently meets the award criteria, it may opt to not confer the award.
