Kate Hanneman MD MPH, is a cardiac radiologist, Associate Professor and Vice Chair of Research at the University of Toronto and a Clinician Scientist at the Toronto General Hospital Research Institute. She completed medical school and diagnostic radiology residency at the University of Toronto, a cardiovascular imaging fellowship at Stanford University, and a Masters in Public Health in Epidemiology at Harvard University. She leads an active research program focused on sustainability and improving health outcomes for patients using cardiac imaging. She has published over 150 peer-reviewed publications and has received over $5 million in peer reviewed grant funding to date. She holds multiple leadership roles including Associate Editor with Radiology, Radiology: Cardiothoracic Imaging, the Journal of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance, and the Canadian Association of Radiologists Journal. She is Co-Chair of the Canadian Association of Radiologists Sustainability Working Group, Chair of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine Environmental Sustainability Working Group, and Deputy Lead for Sustainability at the Joint Department of Medical Imaging and University Medical Imaging Toronto. Her research interests related to sustainability, planetary health and medical imaging include evaluation of the energy and greenhouse gas emissions associated with medical imaging, strategies to reduce the environmental impact of delivering medical imaging services, and the impact of climate related environmental events on imaging utilization and imaging findings.
