Key Initiatives

Pan-Canadian Network on Health System Response to Climate Change

The Pan-Canadian Network brings together health leaders, planetary health experts, and researchers from academic institutions, health delivery organizations, and other health agencies across Canada to strengthen the health system’s response to climate and planetary health challenges. Through cross-jurisdiction learning and collaboration, the Network helps members share practical approaches, coordinate collective opportunities, accelerate the uptake of evidence-informed actions, and build on existing capacity within their own systems.

TAHSN Sustainability Community of Practice

The Collaborative Centre serves as secretariat to a Community of Practice across the Toronto Academic Health Science Network (TAHSN) aimed at climate and sustainability action in the health sector. Collectively embracing sustainability as a healthcare community means that we work together to provide evidence, ideas, leadership and advocacy to develop a climate resilient, low carbon and sustainable health system through action, research and education.

CASCADES: Climate Action + Healthcare

CASCADES strengthens capacity to implement sustainable healthcare practices and policies across Canada through training, pan-Canadian community building, and collaborative resource development. Funded by Environment and Climate Change Canada, CASCADES is an initiative of four founding partners: the University of Toronto Collaborative Centre for Climate, Health & Sustainable Care; the Healthy Populations Institute at Dalhousie University; the Planetary Healthcare Lab at the University of British Columbia; and the Canadian Coalition for Green Health Care. In Quebec, CASCADES is a partner in the Réseau d’action pour la santé durable du Québec.
