Dr. Erjia Ge is an Associate Professor of Epidemiology at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto, and a core faculty member in the Division of Epidemiology. Her research focuses on environmental epidemiology, particularly the impacts of air pollution, urban greenness, climate-related exposures, and environmental change on respiratory and cardiovascular health.
Dr. Ge leads multiple large-scale population-based studies leveraging diverse datasets, including the UK Biobank, Ontario’s health administrative databases, and geospatial environmental data. Her work integrates advanced statistical modeling, spatial analysis, and environmental exposure assessment to generate evidence that informs public health policies and urban planning strategies. She has also been actively involved in methodological advancements, such as exposure modeling and distributed lag non-linear models, to better understand the temporal and spatial dynamics of environmental health effects.
In addition to her research, Dr. Ge supervises graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, fosters interdisciplinary collaborations, and contributes to knowledge translation through peer-reviewed publications, policy engagement, and conference presentations. Her projects frequently intersect with the mission of the Collaborative Centre for Climate Change and Health, addressing how climate-related environmental changes — including air quality degradation and heat exposure — affect population health and exacerbate health inequities.
By bridging environmental science, epidemiology, and public health practice, Dr. Ge’s work supports the Collaborative Centre’s goal of advancing climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies that protect and promote health in Canada and globally.
