Professor of Radiology, Research Director, Senior Scientist, Medical Imaging Department, University of Toronto

Andrea S. Doria, MD, PhD, MSc, MBA is a clinician-scientist and academic leader in pediatric radiology at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) and Professor in the Department of Medical Imaging at the University of Toronto. She serves as Research Director in Radiology and Imaging Lead for Precision Child Health, with additional leadership roles in clinical practice improvement and academic strategy.

Dr. Doria’s work centers on translational and precision-medicine approaches to pediatric cancer and cancer predisposition syndromes, particularly Li-Fraumeni syndrome and other hereditary risk conditions. Her research integrates advanced imaging (including whole-body MRI and quantitative imaging biomarkers), liquid biopsy technologies such as circulating cell-free DNA, and AI-enabled analytics to develop early detection, risk stratification, and response assessment tools. She leads and collaborates in multi-institutional networks across Canada and the United States, bridging imaging science, molecular diagnostics, and computational innovation.

Her professional responsibilities include overseeing radiology research strategy, mentoring trainees across MSc, PhD, and fellowship programs, leading multi-site grant initiatives, and fostering interdisciplinary collaborations between clinicians, data scientists, and laboratory investigators. She is actively engaged in national and international professional societies and contributes to advancing standards in pediatric imaging research and innovation.

Dr. Doria’s work is closely aligned with the mission of the Collaborative Centre by advancing integrative, cross-disciplinary approaches that connect imaging, molecular science, and data analytics to improve outcomes for children with cancer. Through research leadership, mentorship, and collaborative program development, she is committed to building scalable, patient-centered innovation ecosystems that translate discovery into measurable clinical impact.
