Sarah Rheaume

Student Training Program 2025/2026

I have been a Registered Nurse for six years in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, with professional experience spanning pediatrics, geriatrics and emergency medicine. I am currently a Master of Nursing – Nurse Practitioner candidate at the University of Toronto, entering my second year of studies, and a 2025-2026 Student Fellow with the Collaborative Center for Climate, Health and Sustainable Care.

Environmental stewardship has been a core value of mine, influenced through growing up in the National Park of Banff, Alberta. Here I participated on our high school’s “Grean Team” from grades seven to twelve, taking successful actions to improve the sustainability of our school and the broader Banff Community. Moving to the University of Saskatchewan, I immediately joined a Health and Sustainability Living Community, working on projects that focused on the health of students and sustainable practices for the residence community.

I have continued to take personal action and remain informed about current climate crisis and planetary health, and I understand that it is intricately linked to human health, greatly impacting the social determinants of health and health equity. I am passionate about health justice and exploring how sustainable healthcare practices can build more resilient and equitable communities now and for future generations. As a Student Fellow, I look forward to fostering interdisciplinary partnerships, expanding my knowledge and integrating these into my practice as a Nurse Practitioner through advocacy, holistic health practices, policy innovations and community engagement.
